MAKE SURE YOU DON'T MISS OUR NEXT GREAT FILM

15 September 2010

The Damned United 2009

Director Tom Hooper

UK 97 mins

After portraying Tony Blair and David Frost, Michael Sheen now brilliantly brings Brian Clough s football manager extraordinaire back to life in the tale of his turbulent and occasionally hilarious months in charge of Leeds United. You don t need to be a footy fan to enjoy this very clever piece of filmmaking.

Welcome to Silkscreen

Welcome to the home page of the Silkscreen Film Society. We are a non-profit making, voluntary Society dedicated to bringing the best of world cinema to Macclesfield.

We have around 330 members at present and are always delighted to welcome new members. The films are shown at the Heritage Centre in Roe Street, Macclesfield, which provides a 250-seat auditorium with projection and sound systems. Our films can be seen on Wednesdays (at approximately two-week intervals) with showings at 5.30pm and 8pm.

On 23 February 2011 we will be hosting a talk by Alan Sennett, who is a lecturer in film, politics and history, on The White Ribbon (showing on 16 February), with reference to its socio-political context in pre-war Germany. It promises to be an entertaining and informative evening. The event is included within the membership fee and so there will be no further charge to members. Visitors can join us us at a cost of £4. Please note seating is limited so plan to arrive early.

The current season of films run throughs until March 2011. Details of the programme are available on this website. If you would like to see the lists of films chosen in previous seasons, please follow the links for "Archived items."

Full details of how to join us can be found by clicking the "How to Join/Membership" link.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Heritage Centre.
